The Mondberg Family
The Harz is full of witches, goblins and ghosts – at least in the old legends. And here, there are the Mondbergs! This is where they introduce themselves.
The Mondberg family film
Soon the Mondberg family will introduce themselves here in their own short film.
Meet the Mondbergs
-

Papa Casimir
Vampire dad and your host
Good evening – or is it good morning? With me, you can never quite tell. I’m Casimir, the Mondbergs’ papa, and the big bunch of keys is mine. There’s a key on it for every one of our apartments, and I’m happy to show you where you’ll be staying. Don’t worry: I only ever bite into bread rolls.
„Go ahead and ask me – I know every apartment and every key.“
-

Mama Frieda
Brocken witch and host
Hello, I’m Frieda! Every morning I fly over the Harz on my broomstick – and if you hear a bell ringing in the sky, that’s me. From up there I can see the loveliest trails, waterfalls and viewpoints. Ask me about a day out – I always have a tip.
„Where shall we go today?“
-

Emil
Son, ten years old, little vampire
I’m Emil and I’m ten. My biggest dream is to turn into a bat! So far it only works with the wings and the ears, but I practise every day. If you’re looking for an adventure – castles, caves, climbing rocks – count me in.
„Who dares to come into the cave with me?“
-

Lotte
Daughter, seven years old, little witch
I’m Lotte and I’m seven! My hat is a bit too big and my broom still has training wheels, but I can fly anyway. Almost. Jumping in puddles is my favourite thing, so I always wear my turquoise wellies. Come on, let’s find the best playground in the Harz!
„Want to play with me?“
-

Uncle Wolle
Werewolf, Mama’s brother
Hey there! I’m Uncle Wolle, Frieda’s brother. I may look a bit wild, but I’m the most easy-going of us all. With my hiking map I know every trail in the Harz, and any dog that comes along with you is my friend straight away. By the way, I only howl at the full moon when someone starts singing.
„Shall we set off on a hike?“
-

Baron Bibber
Great-grandfather and spa-guest ghost
Allow me: Baron Bibber, great-grandfather of the family. I came to Bad Harzburg for a spa cure more than a hundred years ago and simply stayed. A ghost without a spa cure is only half a ghost, I always say. My favourite place is in warm water, with a cup of tea in my hand.
„Who’s coming with me to the thermal baths?“
-

Fussel
Lynx kitten with bat wings
Meow! I’m Fussel, a little lynx kitten. Real lynxes really do live in the Harz – but only I have bat wings. With them I flutter wherever things get exciting. I feel most at home in small apartments, and my favourite thing is curling up on a sofa cushion.
„Where’s the cosiest spot around here?“
-

Bodo
Family dog and lifeguard
Woof! I’m Bodo, the family dog. The little crown on my head comes from an old Harz legend: long ago I guarded a crown in the Bodekessel. These days I’d rather make sure everyone swims safely. I always have my whistle with me!
„Into the water – but carefully!“
-

Sven
House kobold and jack of all trades
Hi, I’m Sven, the house kobold. Wallpapering, repairs, patching up walls – I really can do it all, and I look after everyone and everything. If something breaks, just let us know – it can happen to anyone. I’ll come and fix it. And the best part: I really exist!
„Something stuck? I’m on my way.“
-

Denny
Goblin, roofer and firefighter
Hey, I’m Denny! I climb every roof and every tree, and when there’s a fire, I’m with the fire brigade. I simply think everything is wonderful – and when I like something, I sing. After work there’s a beer, and then I sing even louder. You’ll recognise me by my red beard and my guild waistcoat with the white buttons. By the way: I exist in real life too!
„Oh, isn’t it lovely here!“
